Support HB 186

The very comprehensive HB186 Railroad Safety Bill has been introduced in the Ohio House of Representatives. This bill includes:
  • Two-Person Train Crews
  • Blocked Railroad Crossing Prevention
  • Safer Lighting and Walkways in Rail Yards
HB 186 Protects Railroaders and the Public; and it needs YOUR Support!

The Issues that Affect Your Job

From the Buckeye State to the Nation's Capital, issues from two-person crews to right-to-work affect our jobs, our families and our futures. Take a look at what we are battling and how YOU can help!

Ask your U.S.Representative to Support the Rail Provisions in the INVEST Act!

This week is all hands on deck. We need every member, retiree and family/friends to send a message to their Member of Congress and ask them to support the rail provisions in the INVEST Act. On our Action Center, we have several types of messages (pick the one that best fits you).

Tell Your Stories About Two Person Crews

Whether it be a derailment, a crossing collision, or a hazmat release, the initial inspection, and often action, is performed by the conductor. The experiences often are traumatic, both to the victim and to the SMART-TD member who must immediately deal with the incident, but on occasion, our actions result in the saving of lives, protection of public property, and/or prevention of derailments/incidents.

From a Caboose, a Union is Born

Our Union is built on the blood and sweat of our brothers and sisters who fought for equal and fair worker's rights. From a secret society to one of the largest unions representing conductors, engineers, bus drivers, sheet metal workers and airlines, we are proud of our history and the history we make every day.

Say NO to Right to Work

Right to Work lowers wages, loosens safety restrictions and eliminates YOUR right to representation. Right to Work not only affects railroaders but everyone who has a voice in their workplace!
